
Hannover and Clausthal are located in the northern part of Germany, around 1.5h (by train ride) east of Berlin and 1h south-west of Hamburg.

Hannover, capital of the federal state of Lower Saxony, is a safe and secure city in the heart of Europe. It is also meant to be the greenest city in Western Europe. Hannover is the headquarter of VW Nutzfahrzeuge, Continenal, MTU, Sennheiser and Salzgitter AG. Moreover, half a million inhabitants, of which are 23,000 students (3000 international students at all) who live in lively Hannover. It is surrounded by idyllic villages and bucolic countrysides.

Clausthal-Zellerfeld, in the south-east of Hannover and reachable by train in one hour, is a quaint university town with a long and illustrious history of mining research. Clausthal-Zellerfeld is located in the south-western part of the beautiful Harz Mountains, the most famous northern national park in Germany.
Clausthal-Zellerfeld has a population of 15,000 inhabitants, more than 3,000 of them are students.
The cities of Hannover and Clausthal-Zellerfeld have an excellent public transportation system of trains, city-trams and busses, which are all free of charge for the participating students.
